Meet Larry

A retired minister of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Larry Jones ’67 knows about answering the call. But sometimes, you have to heed the call of the open road, too. Larry and his wife, Cindy, sold their home in Vermont and hit the road in early 2025 in an Airstream travel trailer.

“My wife and I have become nomads,” he says of the journey, which has taken them well more than 50,000 miles in 19 months. “A blowout in Nova Scotia, a bald tire in New Mexico, nine inches of snow in Alabama, [and] the untimely death of a good friend in British Columbia,” are just some of
the travails they have faced, but it’s all been balanced by reunions with friends and family in every corner of the country, “seeing sites and sights we’d never dreamed of.”

One of Larry’s stops was in Nantucket to catch up with 98-year-old Ginnie Chambers H’54 ’58 ’59 ’60 ’61 ’62 ’66 ’67 ’68 ’71 ’73 ’75 ’79 ’80 ’89 P’77, who, he reports, “remains as young as ever, as cheerful and welcoming as ever, and as sharp as ever! I came away feeling better in every respect!”
