Striking Gold
The Lawrentian captured two golds in the annual Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) 2025 Circle of Excellence Awards competition.
The Lawrentian received gold in the category of Magazines — Alumni/General Interest (Independent and International Schools), where it shared top honors with the Williston Northampton Bulletin and the Sidwell Friends School Magazine. As a gold-award winner, The Lawrentian was one of just eight finalists for CASE’s Robert Sibley Magazine of the Year, which lauds the very best school and alumni magazines at any level, including colleges and universities,
that publish more than twice annually.
The publication also won gold in the Magazines – Publishing Improvement category, the only independent school magazine to earn recognition at any level in this division. The Lawrentian shared gold with Northwestern University’s Kellogg Magazine and South Magazine from the University of South Alabama. This recognition follows the publication’s cover-to-cover redesign that debuted with the spring 2024 issue, done in partnership with Landesberg Design of Pittsburgh.
In November, The Lawrentian added three more honors for the year in CASE’s Best of District II Awards, being recognized again in those categories, but also in the category of Writing: Profile (Less Than 1,000 Words), for the spring 2024 “Take This Job and Love It” story on outdoor adventure guide O’Neal Tutein ’94, titled “Purveyor of People’s Dreams.”
The CASE Circle of Excellence Awards are the premier honors competition in education advancement and communications. CASE received 4,460 entries from 33 countries, with a total of 477 winners carefully selected by a panel of 525 volunteer judges.
